Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

Purpose

Mitigation is an action to reduce and/or eliminate the impacts to life, property, and the environment from hazards. The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA 2000) requires hazard mitigation planning in order to receive federal hazard mitigation funding. Planning efforts result in a hazard mitigation plan that details potential hazards, risks and mitigation goals/objectives.

The Lake County Local Hazard Mitigation Plan was last updated and FEMA approved in July 2018. The plan is required to be updated every 5 years in order to remain current.
